Treasure to be found in High Woods County Park

On July 31st, 10:30am outside High Woods Visitor Centre, Cycle Colchester will be revealing a closely guarded secret, the fact it is in the possession of a treasure map. This map along with a series of questions leads to the location of a hidden roman treasure.

Cycle Colchester has been working hard to produce a Roman themed treasure trail that can be walked or cycled and highlights the ease at which High Woods County Park can be accessed and explored by bicycle.

In partnership with CTC the trail is being launched as part of Love Parks Week at High Woods County Park on the 31st of July. The event is free to take part in and everyone is welcomed to come and join in, treasure map packs will be handed out from 10:30 am till 2pm. As there is a physical treasure at the end of the trail containing a variety of goodies, the quicker you find it the more treasure you are able to choose from. We ask that treasure seekers feel free to take a reward from the treasure, but why not also add to it, by putting something back into the treasure it will ensure that it will be there for treasure seekers to find for years to come.

In addition to the treasure trail, Richard Monk from CTC will be leading lead rides around the park, the first starting at 11:30, and will also be offering free cycle hire for the day in order for you to enjoy both or either activity. Cycle Colchester will also be on hand giving out general cycle advice to get you on your bike this summer.
